Merry Christmas to Me!!!!

My sweet, sweet mom and dad got me a Cricut for Christmas! YAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
Can you tell I am really excited about it? LOL I have already been having alot of fun with it. Here is a Birthday Card I made for one of my friends whose birthday is on Saturday... I think it turned out really well. The cardstock is what came with the Cricut, the floral is DCWV, and the Prima isn't really a Prima at all! It is just silk flowers I got on sale at Walmart and removed from the stems. You have to choose the ones that are pretty much flat, so that they will lay nicely on the cards, but it works well and is much cheaper than Primas. Iused a flower shaped brad to attach it to the card and embellished with glitter gel. I added Hot Pink Grosgrain ribbon with one of Courtney's bows (createdbycourtney@blogspot.com) and finished it off with sky blue skittles and multi-color glitter gel. I am very pleased with how my first Cricut creation turned out, and I cannot wait to do some more. Unfortunately for me, I have to do other things today *sigh* my DH actually expects me to do some work around the house today, since I am off...the nerve! LOL
I pray that you all have a blessed Christmas and that the Heavenly Father reveals to you the depth of His love, which enabled Him to send His Son Jesus to earth as a baby...a baby that would grow up to save us all from our sins.

Let It Snow!!!

Somewhere in the world, there is a pig flying around! LOL Must be, because we got 4 inches of snow in SE Texas last night! I even woke my kids up to see it falling last night because I did not think it would stick. When I woke up, I could not believe my eyes...Merry Christmas to us!

Weekend Fun!

So, this weekend we took our boys (4 & 5) to the mall to see Santa. They were pretty normal until they actually SAW the Man in Red. Oh Boy! Did they get excited! Especially the 4yr old. He started jumping and lauging...he does this laugh we call "the goat laugh" when he REALLY likes something. He has done it since he was just months old, but usually we hear it related to food that tastes good to him. He RAN up to Santa, hopped on his knee, asked for a "T-Rex that runs!" and kissed him on the cheek! I think that "Santa" really liked that...hehehe. Anyway, they also rode the little train they had in the mall, twice because the first time they did not get to sit in the engine, and then they had these big, stuffed animals that they rode on and you can steer them like a bike. They had a BLAST! and best of all....it was cheap! LOL

Deep Thoughts of a 5 year old

So, last night my DS Josiah (he is 5) was crying his eyes out at bedtime because he was scared. I asked him what he was scared of. He told me that his kindergarten teacher told him he would get old and die in about 100 years! Now, I know his teacher and I am SURE that was not EXACTLY how the conversation went. LOL! Anyway, he did not want "his body to get all old and die." I told him that we all have a time to live and a time to die and that as believers, we don't fear death because that just means we get to be with God forever. I explained that fear "comes from the devil" etc...just as I was feeling all proud of myself over this wonderful, theological discussion I was having with my son, he says..."Hey Mom, if that old devil picks up a frog, it will pee right in his eyeball!"

Thank You Card with Ribbon

This is a card I made using some very pretty paper I got on sale at Michael's. The soft green cardstock is SU, and the cream and white striped ribbon was part of a kit I got from 3LittleDreams, when they were still doing kits.
I just love the colors in this! I had to use my paper trimmer to cut slits for the ribbon at the fold in the card...anybody know a better way to do this?

Blessings,

CBC Challenge #16 Bagelope

This was my first time to try a bagelope. I think it turned out pretty good. I used a standard invitation envelope, and some SU cardstock and paper scraps I had. The sentiment is a $1 stamp I found at Michael's and I used my brand new pigment marker set to color in the stamp. What do you think?

My Very First Ever Blog Post!

I feel so Blog-Savvy! This really is my first ever post to my very own blog. I have been following a friend's blog for a while now, but have never really had my own. So, here we are. We spent Thanksgiving at my parent's home in Missouri City, close to Houston. It was much better than our last Turkey Day celebration. Last year tops my list of bad holidays. We almost lost my dad to a blood infection, and we spent T-Day in the hospital. I remember crying as I was stuffing bags into the car at 3am, thinking..."Oh Dear God, I am not ready to lose my Daddy! Please don't let him die!" Thank the Lord, he recovered and we spent T-Day this year being thankful to just get the chance to have another one. I turned 38 on the 26th of Nov. Somehow, it does not really bother me. I am sure that 40 probably will, but I will think about that in a couple years! LOL For now, I am just glad to have been able to celebrate another birthday. The picture is of my 5yr old son, Josiah. He had a school project that required him to take "David" (of the 'No, David' books) home for the weekend and take pictures of us all doing stuff with David. This is at the Christmas Tree Farm where we went to pick out our tree. David is hanging out with the Pilgrim dude in the centerpiece!

Blessings!
