This totally adorable little Skater Ian from TGF seemed like the perfect match for my youngest nephew. He also seemed like the perfect card for Cupcake Craft Challenge #31, which is to use brown + either blue, pink or green. I chose green. I colored him with Copics and used DP from a DCWV stack called "The Green Stack." It is 70% recycled and has the coolest colors and designs! (being green is a plus!) The CS is from my stash and the brads are Basic Grey Urban Prairie.
I had no idea for the sentiments, so I turned to my trusty friend, Mr. Google, to help me out. I googled, "Skater slang," and found a website (http://punkskateboarders.tripod.com/id73.htm) that gives all the current skater-speak and the translations for yoinkers like me! hehehe (you will have to check the site to get the meaning!)
I trimmed around Ian and popped him and the sentiment up on foam dots. The sentiments were generated on my computer and printed out.
Here is second Ian I made while I was on a roll! All the supplies were from my stash and I (of course!) colored him with the W1-7 Copics and R27 Cadmium Red.
Isn't this guy just beautiful? I found this stamp on sale at Joann and HAD to make him mine! I am a MAJOR dragon fan! My oldest nephew and I share a love of reading, especially stuff like C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, so I thought this would be just right for him. I am also using him as my entry for the Color Create Wk 7 Challenge. The colors are red and green, and the option is to put something with wings. He works well, don't you think?
I colored this handsome guy with Copics and cut him out. The CS and DP are all from my stash, the brads are Basic Grey Urban Prairie again, and the ribbon is from the clearance section at Michael's.
The matting under the sentiments were corner punched with the Heritage punch by Fiskars and the sentiments were punched with a corner rounder by Marvy. (I did not like the way the matting looked with the coloring on the edges, so I went back and colored the whole matting with my E37 Sepia marker. It looks better, but I did not get a pic before I mailed it.)
Here is the sentiment on the inside. These sentiments were found by googling "dragon related quotes." I thought these were too funny and I know my nephew will like them as well!
I popped him up on foam dots for a 3-D look. Now, I just have to make an envie to fit him! I made this a slightly larger card (5x7) to fit this very large image. Sorry for the bad lighting in my pics! I will try to take them earlier in the day next time.
Blessings!

Fantastic card! I love the dragon and that was a great bargain stamp. Wonderful paper and design too. I think it is harder to make masculine cards as you can't embellish them in the same way, I think yours are all wonderful. Glad you could join the CC challenge this week. Chris x
Hi Shannon, all three of these are beautiful cards. I love what you have done with skater Ian, your colour choices are fabulous on both those cards. Your card for the colour create challenge is awesome. Joey.xxx
